Spring Training Report: Back and Forth Battle Ends in 5-5 Tie

by Jordan Lazowski

As Spring Training continues to roll out, we are starting to see more and more regulars in the lineup for the White Sox. Yoan Moncada, Jose Abreu, Andrew Vaughn, and Lucas Giolito all played a big part in today’s 5-5 tie in today’s six inning game against the Texas Rangers.

Position Players

The offense today was paced by Andrew Vaughn, whose first inning three-run-homer started the offense. Tim Anderson, Yoan Moncada, Jose Abreu, and Jonathan Lucroy are other regulars who contributed to today’s 10-hit parade, with Lucroy and Abreu adding multi-hit efforts to the offense.

Pitchers

Lucas Giolito was the big story today, as he was the first White Sox pitcher in three games that will likely debut with the ballclub. The ace of the staff started the game with four strikeouts in two innings, his only blemish being a home run to Ronald Guzman. Giolito was clearly working fastball/changeup in today’s contest, and he looked incredibly sharp.

Bernardo Flores, Zack Burdi, Matt Tomshaw, and Jose Ruiz also saw some action with varying results.

Next Game

Wed, March 3rd vs. Royals: Kade McClure (CWS) vs. Carlos Hernandez (KCR); Start Time: 2:05 CT

This game is not available on television. The next available telecast is Friday vs. Seattle at 2:05 CT.
