Spring Training Report: Late Rally Lifts Royals to 6-5 Victory

by Jordan Lazowski

Though we weren’t able to watch it, the White Sox brought the bats this afternoon, scoring 5 runs in 6 innings. This wasn’t enough, however, as Tyler Johnson and Bennett Sousa both struggled out of the bullpen, and the first Spring win remained elusive for the Sox.

W: Lovelady (1-0) L: Sousa (0-1) S: Barlow (2)

Position Players

The White Sox scored three runs in the first inning on an Eloy Jimenez RBI single, Gavin Sheets RBI groundout, and Yermin Mercedes RBI single. The Sox added on later in the game via a Zack Collins homer and Yermin Mercedes RBI single.

Luis Robert added two hits in the losing effort as well.

Pitchers

The White Sox didn’t feature too many familiar names today, as Kade McClure, Tyler Johnson, Jacob Lindgren, Mike Wright, and Bennett Sousa were the pitchers in action today. McClure had the best performance, giving up one hit in his inning pitched while striking out one. Lindgren, Johnson, and Sousa all struggled; Johnson and Sousa each gave up three runs, and Lindgren walked three batters. All told, at one point in the game, the Sox walked six batters in a row.
