Fresh off a 12-2 thrashing of the Orioles last night, the White Sox now find themselves 9-12 and 4.5 games back from the Minnesota Twins. Fun fact: The White Sox are the only perfect team at night games, going 5-0.
It’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride so far this season, but the White Sox bats seem to be coming alive. If only their pitching can continue to make strides as well.
Throughout the season, I’ll be providing a weekly update of where the White Sox stand in the rankings throughout the national media, sprinkling in where I feel they are as well.
Sox on 35th (24)
It’s been a mixed bag through 21 games for our White Sox. Pitching hasn’t done a great job of missing many bats, but their have been some pleasant surprises at the plate. Tim Anderson seems to have figured it all out (.403 avg, .427 obp, 9 steals — and yet to be caught stealing), and Yoan Moncada has shown the potential that had him as one of the prized young players in the game. If last nights game was any future indication, a resurgent Jose Abreu could do wonders for this ball club. These guys most likely don’t make a run at any actual playoff appearance, but one thing is for sure, they will be FUN TO WATCH! – Ryan Wilson

Lost in the back-and-forth of the Brad Keller – Tim Anderson incident that
the White Sox missed a golden opportunity to build some momentum. First, they lost that game against the Royals in extra innings. Then they blew a late lead in Detroit. In a division that might not require 90 wins to win it, these are the kinds of games that could haunt an improving ChiSox squad later. – Bradford Doolittle
