Meet the Team

Sox On 35th is proud to have a dedicated, diverse, and passionate group of writers who love to use their knowledge of the Chicago White Sox to create engaging content for fans of all ages.

Joe Binder | Founder & Owner

My name is Joe Binder, and I’m originally from Pennsylvania. Thanks to the name of my little league team along with the 2005 World Series run, I’ve been a diehard White Sox fan since I was a kid. I graduated from Seton Hall University in 2020 with a degree in Visual and Sound Media and a Sports Media minor. It was during my freshman year when I founded Sox On 35th, and I now have the pleasure of overseeing all operations while working with our talented staff. Come sit back, relax, and strap it down with us!

Jordan Lazowski | Editor-in-Chief

I joined Sox On 35th from Ireland back in 2017 and now serve as the Editor-in-Chief for this incredible page. I’m a 2019 graduate from the University of Notre Dame with degrees in Applied Mathematics and Economics. This, along with being a 3x #SoxMath Finals Runner-Up, is likely why I’ve been given the title of “resident nerd” of the page. I look forward to bringing you analytical and thought-provoking content for years to come. Go Sox!

Brandon Anderson | Lead Creative

My name is Brandon Anderson, but people know me as “Bson.” I’m the Creative Director for this amazing blog. On top of my graphic design, I also do some video work and photography for our page. I’m currently the youngest person on our team’s roster, which I take great pride in. I like to think I’ve been a bright spot in the White Sox rebuild by giving people something visually pleasing to take their minds off of the on-field product. I’m currently attending Columbia College Chicago in the south loop of, well, Chicago. I’m usually at games so don’t be afraid to say hello and share some baseball stories. And always, Go Sox!

I enjoy monitoring the minor league system, evaluating new metrics, and writing about the development of the team’s core pieces. I am excited to continue to provide content on what is becoming such an entertaining team!

My name is Nicole Reitz and I am from Northwest Indiana. I am currently a senior at IUPUI in Indianapolis studying sports journalism. Thanks to my dad, I have been a diehard Sox fan since I was born. My favorite players growing up were always Mark Buehrle and Paul Konerko but today my love belongs to Tim Anderson and Lance Lynn. I am so excited to provide content for this amazing website. As always, Go Sox!

Michael Suareo | Managing Editor – MiLB

My name is Michael Suareo, and I have been a diehard Sox fan since my grandpa took me to my first game when I was 6 years old. I currently live in the Western Suburbs with my fiancé and our dog Whiskey. I graduated from Carthage College with a degree in marketing, and I am currently attending Dominican University part-time in pursuit of my MBA while working in digital marketing. My favorite player on the White Sox today is Eloy, but my all-time favorite player will always be Frank Thomas.

Tim Moran | Senior Contributor

A lifelong White Sox fan growing up in Palatine, Illinois, I’ve been writing about the South Siders since high school. Currently, I live in Lincoln Park and work in downtown Chicago. Sox fan first, Fighting Irish fan second, I was blessed to be able to graduate from the University of Notre Dame in 2022. There, my first-year Resident Assistant was coincidentally our own Jordan Lazowski. Go Sox!

Joe Ruffalo | Multimedia Creator

Growing up in Northwest Indiana, my interest in baseball and Content creation started after attending my first White Sox home game back in 2002. Since then, my love for both has only continued to grow. I strive to document the organization’s significant moments for Sox On 35th and bring fans closer to the game through all my visual coverage. Hope to see you around the ballpark!

Duke Coughlin | Contributor

My name is Duke Coughlin. I’ve been covering the White Sox in an official capacity for almost three years now, but I’ve been following the team my entire life. I was born in Wisconsin and raised with Bridgeport values. Expect plenty of deep dives and hot takes. I love pitching duels, home runs, and Ricobene steaks. Mark Buehrle is a Hall of Famer.

I’m honored to join such an incredible staff here at Sox On 35th and can’t wait to get started!

Noah Phalen | Contributor

I’ve been a Sox fan since I was a little kid. My dad always had the games on and that’s what really sparked my interest in baseball. In fact, I became so into baseball that I decided I wanted to make a career out of it. I recently graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a degree in Sport Management and my dream job would be to either work for the White Sox or be a sports agent. I decided to start blogging about the Sox because of my passion for the team and my desire to share it with others.

Tommy Gross | Contributor

My name is Tommy Gross. I’m from the northwest suburbs and I’m currently majoring in mathematical economics at Marquette University. I’m obsessed with stats. I’ve been a White Sox fan for as long as I can remember. In kindergarten, my teacher called me Konerko because I wore his jersey so much to school. I’m also an avid fan of Aaron Bummer and Yoan Moncada.

Dwayne Banks Jr. | Photographer

My name is Dwayne Banks Jr., and I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. Being ingrained into the White Sox fandom by my dad, I can say that the White Sox (and baseball) are part of my DNA. I recently graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in History and double minors in African American Studies and Political Science. During my tenure at Illinois State University, I pursued photography and videography and it has translated into a passion. I am looking forward to contributing to an amazing, dedicated, and talented team such as Sox On 35th and obtaining a career with the Chicago White Sox and MLB one day. As always, Go Sox!

Ike Gordon | MiLB Content Creator

My name is Ike Gordon and I am a videographer and photographer who lives in Charlotte, NC. I was born in Algonquin, IL where I followed in the footsteps of my dad and became a Sox fan. My family moved to Charlotte when I was five, and luckily three of the four Sox affiliates are within an hour’s drive, so White Sox baseball has never been too far away. I’ve always wanted to stay around sports and I’ve found photography and videography as a great way to still be on the field beyond my playing days. Baseball is filled with great stories, I mean Brad Pitt said it best: “How can you not be romantic about baseball?”

I’ve always enjoyed writing and look forward to combining that with my passion for the Southsiders.
