Angels 12, White Sox 5: Chicago drops game and series to Los Angeles

by Sox On 35th Contributors

Not a whole lot went right for the Chicago White Sox this afternoon.

On the pitching side, starter Lance Lynn gave up eight earned runs in four innings pitched, including two of the longest home runs this season at Guaranteed Rate Field to Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, respectively.

Jesse Scholtens came on in relief and ate up four innings after Lynn, giving up a couple of runs. Garrett Crochet pitched the 9th and also gave up a pair of runs.

The White Sox didn’t get much going on the offensive side of things. The Pale Hose first scored in the second inning after Gavin Sheets hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Yoan Moncada to score. The Sox would score their second run of the game in the 7th inning after Clint Frazier pinch-hit for Andrew Benintendi and brought in Tim Anderson with a single after the Sox shortstop hit a double earlier in the inning.

The White Sox scored the majority of their runs in the bottom of the bottom of the 9th after the game was essentially over. Jake Burger got the scoring started by hitting his 11th home run on the year. A few batters later, Hanser Alberto doubled, bringing home Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert Jr..

With the loss, the White Sox now have a record of 23-35.

W: Jaime Barria (1-2) | L: Lance Lynn (4-6) | SV: Tucker Davidson (2)
