The White Sox have added another player to their minor-league depth.

Veteran outfielder Stephen Piscotty has reached a minors deal with the organization and has been assigned to Triple-A Charlotte, according to a press release from the Knights.

Piscotty, 32, has appeared in the majors over parts of eight seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals (2015-17) and Oakland A’s (2018-22). Most recently, Piscotty was signed by the San Francisco Giants on February 6, only to be released after Spring Training on March 29. During camp, he had an impressive showing with a .320/.270/.440 slash over 27 plate appearances.

In recent years, Piscotty’s offensive production has dropped off as a result from various injuries. Over just the last three seasons, he’s owned just a .214/.270/.352 slash. His best season came in 2018 when he batted .267/.331/.491 with a career-high 27 home runs for the Athletics. Though he likely never return to those levels, the White Sox will see if a healthy Piscotty and continue his hot spring while in Charlotte.

Piscotty joins the likes of other outfield depth pieces like Jake Marisnick, Victory Reyes, and Billy Hamilton. Though they haven’t been needed to this point at the major league level, knock on wood, the White Sox should have a few options to choose from if ever needed down the stretch.
