The White Sox continue to add depth in the minor leagues.
According to multiple reports earlier today, the team has signed first baseman Jared Walsh to a minor-league deal. Walsh was recently designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers after cracking their opening-day roster.
Walsh, 30, played in 17 games with the Rangers this season where he batted .226/.317/.321 with an OPS of .637 and launched one home run, and tallied seven RBIs in his short stint in Texas. He is a left-handed bat and can provide for the White Sox if Gavin Sheets or Andrew Vaughn were to go down with an injury.
Once a former All-Star with the Los Angeles Angels in 2021, Walsh that year hit 29 home runs with a slash line of .277/.340/.509. However, since his All-Star campaign, he has struggled to find sustained success at the big-league level. Since 2021, Walsh has only hit 20 home runs and batted .200/.264/.352 from 2022-2024.
Walsh will report to Arizona before joining the Triple-A Charlotte Knights.
