The White Sox have made a pair of roster moves prior to this weekend’s series vs. Texas – neither involving manager Tony La Russa for those wondering.

The team announced that infielder/outfielder Gavin Sheets has been sent to Triple-A Charlotte, with right-handed pitcher Jimmy Lambert returning to the Majors.

Sheets, 26, has struggled mightily after being expected to serve a crucial role in 2022. Through 44 games with the Sox this season, he is slashing just .204/.268/.328 (28-for-137) with five doubles, four home runs, and 10 RBI. It is likely that he will return later in the year once he starts gains some confidence and plate discipline back, but Sheets will likely see an extended stay in Charlotte for now.

Lambert, 27, has appeared in three games (two starts) with the White Sox this season, going 0-2 with a 5.14 ERA (4 ER/7.0 IP) and seven strikeouts. He also is an abysmal 0-3 with a 9.24 ERA (13 ER/12.2 IP) and 12 strikeouts over five starts with the Knights.
