White Sox launch new ad campaign promoting Tim Anderson

by Joe Binder

Following the highly controversial incident between Josh Donaldson and Tim Anderson, the White Sox have doubled down in backing their star shortstop with a brand new ad campaign.

The team unveiled the messaging that will be featured on seven billboards around Chicago (see what they did there), along with CTA “L” digital panels, and other various locations. The primary phrases that are featured include “The Face of Baseball” and “Baseball Needs More Tim Andersons,” as can be viewed in the provided photos below.

The move by the organization comes on the heels of the incident in which Donaldson referred to Anderson as “Jackie” (Jackie Robinson) during the recent Yankees-White Sox series in the Bronx. Though Donaldson viewed his remarks as an inside joke, Anderson and everyone on the White Sox viewed it as the exact opposite. Things eventually escalated on the field when Yasmani Grandal confronted Donaldson later in the game, before countless players spoke out about the Yankees’ third baseman’s insensitive comments after the fact.

From the sounds of it, the ad campaign that launched on Tuesday will last at least through the end of the month. If you happen to notice any signage around the city, be sure to take a photo and tag us on social media @SoxOn35th!
