White Sox Promote Ryan Burrowes and Grant Taylor to Low-A

by Michael Suareo

The Chicago White Sox have promoted two of their top prospects from the Arizona Complex League to their Low-A affiliate. Per MiLB.com’s transactions page, Both SS Ryan Burrowes and RHP Grant Taylor have been promoted to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. In addition, 2023 14th-round pick Edrick Felix was sent to the ACL White Sox from Kannapolis.

Grant Taylor, the White Sox 2nd round pick in 2023, recently made his first professional start of the season for the ACL White Sox. In his lone start, he gave up 3 runs in 3.1 innings, while striking out 7 batters. It was his first in-game action since undergoing Tommy John surgery prior to the 2023 collegiate season. Before needing surgery and missing the season, Taylor was seen as a potential first-round draft prospect.

Burrowes is currently in his third season with the White Sox organization. Initially signing for $70,000 out of Panama in 2022, Ryan Burrowes had a breakout season in the Dominican Summer League that led to him entering most White Sox top 30 prospect lists. He didn’t have quite as strong of a season statistically in 2023 after joining the Arizona Complex League, but still received positive reviews from scouts. He was initially slated to begin the season in Kannapolis, however a hand injury delayed his start to the season. the 6’2 180 lbs shortstop had a .474 batting average and stole two bases in 5 games in the ACL this season.

Both Burrowes and Taylor will be making their full-season baseball debuts in the coming days with the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. Both of these prospects possess plenty of upside and will be fun to watch as they continue to develop.
