White Sox Hire Astros Scout to Player Development Staff

by Joe Binder

The Chicago White Sox made a new hire on Tuesday afternoon. Jake Kaplan, a writer for the Houston Chronicle, reports that Everett Teaford will be heading to the South Side. The former major leaguer and current pro scout for the Houston Astros accepted a position on the player development staff.

During his four year career, Teaford pitched for the Kansas City Royals and the Tampa Bay Rays. He finished with a 3-5 record, 4.11 ERA, 67 K, and 38 BB in 111.2 innings pitched/49 games. After being designated for assignment by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2015, Teaford decided to retire a few months later in January 2016. He then accepted a job in the Astros’ scouting department where he has spent the past two seasons.

It is not yet clear what Teaford’s exact role will be as a member of the White Sox player development staff. However, we will provide updates on our social media pages as soon as more information is made available.
