White Sox Farm Report: March 29, 2024

Via Laura Wolff/Charlotte Knights

The Triple-A season kicked off on Friday, as the Charlotte Knights opened their season against the Memphis Redbirds.

The Knights held a strong lead after the 5th inning, as the lineup put up 4 runs and Kyle Woodford held the opposition to just 1 run. Unfortunately, Prelander Berroa had a day to forget, as he gave up the lead in the 6th inning, and the Knights were unable to recover after that.

Final: Knights 5, Redbirds 6

W: Connor Thomas (1-0), L: Prelander Berroa (0-1)

Offensive Recap

Pitching Recap:

Notable Performances

Kyle Woodford: 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 4 K

Kyle Woodford did all he could do for the Knights on opening day, as he got through 5 innings on 81 pitches while holding the Redbirds to just one run. It was a solid outing, but unfortunately, his bullpen could not secure the win.

Oscar Colas: 2-for-3, 2B, BB

Oscar Colas had a solid day for the Knights, reaching base three times and putting up some solid exit velocities. He is doing his best to show the White Sox organization that he deserves another shot in the big leagues.

Colson Montgomery: 1-for-5, 2 K, RBI

Colson Montgomery was victim to some questionable called third strikes throughout the game but was finally able to turn on one in the ninth inning to drive in a run for his first Triple-A hit. Expect plenty more of these throughout the season, while he is still down here.

Maybe Charlotte won’t be as bad this year…. unless the injury bug rues its ugly head in Chicago.

As Colas… I think he’s salvageable. But only in another organization. Sox minors just can’t develop talent.
