White Sox Fan Hits 97 mph at Saturday’s Game

Talent is everywhere on the South Side of Chicago. Prospects are now beginning to make their way up from the minors and provide glimpses of what’s to come in the future. However, they’re not the only ones impressing at W 35th and Shields. On Saturday night, video emerged of a White Sox fan, Ryan Vice, hitting 97 mph at the Sox Speed Pitch.

Ryan has been playing baseball since he was four years old in the Little Sluggers League. He currently plays for Chicago Elite Travel Baseball and Lincoln Way Central High School, where he’s started to make the transition over to pitcher after spending time at first base and the outfield. When asked about his new position, Ryan said, “I just started really getting into pitching this year with lessons. I haven’t really thrown much until this year.” In terms of goals for the future, Ryan tries to keep things simple and go one day at a time. “I do whatever I can each day to get better, whether it’s in the weight room or throwing with a teammate or on the mound. I just try to set little goals and not get ahead of myself.” Ryan is committed to play baseball at Western Michigan University and plans to begin there next summer.
