With the White Sox continuing to lose some arms, they’ve found one with major-league experience to add to their roster.

On the same day they moved Garrett Crochet to the IL with left shoulder inflammation, the team announced that they claimed right-handed pitcher Touki Toussaint off of waivers from the Guardians, filling their open spot on the 40-man roster.

Toussaint, 27, is a former 16th overall draft pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks back in 2014. He has spent parts of six seasons – including 2023 – in the majors, though to this point has failed to capture the success usually seen from top draft picks. In his career, he is 10-8 with a 5.33 ERA in just 174 innings. He has featured a mainly four-pitch mix throughout his career: Curveball, Fastball, Split Finger, and Sinker. His fastball has historically been his weakest pitch, with above-average movement for his sinker, curveball, and splitter.

Toussaint will likely be assigned to Triple-A Charlotte where he can serve as depth with the string of injuries to both major and minor league depth that the White Sox have attempted to accumulate.
