Will the White Sox have a better second half of the season than we all expected? With a huge series win against the Braves, it sure seems like they might.

The offense brought nothing but heat today, and Jake Burger started the show in the second inning when he blasted a 461-foot two-run homer to center field. Tim Anderson and Luis Robert Jr. followed up with two singles apiece driving in Elvis Andrus and Andrew Benintendi.

In the fourth, Benintendi and Gavin Sheets both singled too, driving in another two runs. Then in the sixth, Luis Robert Jr. did what he does best, and blasted a two-run home run to center field, giving the Sox a seven-run lead. Robert Jr. went 4-for-5 today with three RBIs.

On defense, Dylan Cease had an incredible outing on the mound, throwing five innings with six strikeouts and allowed just one run. With the win, he ended his streak of eight straight no-decisions.

On the downside, Eloy Jimenez left today’s game with left groin tightness and is being further evaluated.

With the victory, the White Sox improve to a 40-55 record on the season.

The White Sox put on an impressive showing! So we are to believe that they have turned a corner? Not so fast! How many times have we seen them give the appearance that they have put it together only to backslide? This showing only serves to mask the team’s massive shortcomings!
