Well, it seems that the White Sox weren’t sleeping during this game, but sources cannot confirm this is true. Despite all the overwhelming news that has hit the clubhouse the past two days, the White Sox extended their win streak Monday night defeating the New York Yankees 5-1.

The last time we witnessed a pitching performance similar to Monday’s game was 22 years ago. Starting pitcher Dylan Cease put up one of the most unique pitching stat lines we have seen in a while. Cease gave up seven walks while only allowing one only one hit through 5.1 innings and no runs. With the help of Honeywell, Ramsey, and Shaw, Cease secured his fifth win of the season. In total, White Sox pitchers struck out twelve batters, and Cease got his first win at home since April 5th.

Where were you when Andrew Vaughn single-handedly changed the White Sox culture? Vaughn gave the White Sox an early lead in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run homer. He also made a huge defensive play that helped Honeywell end his first White Sox appearance with no runs given up. The Yankees got on the board in the top of the seventh inning when Billy McKinney got out on a sacrifice fly. Aaron Boone put on a theatrical performance during the bottom of the eighth inning, which led to him getting ejected after he mocked home-base umpire Laz Diaz.

The offense was able to offer some run security in the bottom of the eighth inning. Sheets and Andrus singled to start the inning. Remillard sacrifice bunt turned into an error from the Yankee’s pitcher which loaded the bases with no outs. Andrew Benintendi’s sac fly brought in one runner, and Luis Robert then doubled in two more runners.

With the win, the White Sox have now won three games in a row!

W: Dylan Cease (5-5) | L: Gerrit Cole (10-3) | S: Bryan Shaw (5)

Luis Robert secured a 30-30 season for the White Sox with his insurance double in the eighth.
