The White Sox embraced their ability to play spoiler last night, as their 8-run outburst helped officially eliminate the Indians from AL Central contention and drop the Tribe 1.5 games back in the race for the second AL Wild Card. Ross Detwiler did his job on the mound, and the offense clearly did more than enough. The White Sox are now 69-88.

With two on and one out in the top of the seventh, things were in danger of slipping away for the White Sox. Enter Aaron Bummer, who shut down the rally with two strikeouts. Matt Skole, was really a non-factor in this game – it’s not often that the LVP only contributed -4.6% to his team’s effort.

With his four-hit performance last night, Tim Anderson raised his season average to .339, a full ten points higher than the next closer major leaguers – Ketel Marte and Christian Yelich. With just a few games left in the season, Anderson looks to have the batting title locked down.

Kelvin Herrera had a good day yesterday, striking out all four batters he faced in 1.1 scoreless innings of work. Hopefully he can build on this recent stretch and become a valuable piece out of the 2020 bullpen.
