Tale of the Tape ’05 Edition: White Sox 8, Twins 5

With the start of the White Sox regular season postponed due to coronavirus concerns, NBC Sports Chicago has decided to re-air 70 victories from the 2005 season from now until June. Here at Sox On 35th, we will also be following along and recapping those games for you in our Tale of the Tape series.

Date of Game: April 9, 2005

The White Sox took an early lead at the Metrodome, but Shannon Stewart hit a three run bomb off Jon Garland to tie things up in the fifth. A huge four-run seventh kickstarted by Timo Perez‘s home run eventually put the Sox ahead for good as they captured their first road win.

Moment of the Game

Today’s moment of the game will be the entire top of the 7th ining. Tied at three, Timo Perez homered off Brad Radke to give the Sox the lead. Aaron Rowand and Joe Crede both singled, knocking Bradke out and opening up the flood gates. The Sox went on to score three more runs that inning thanks also in part to Juan Uribe, Scott Podsednik, and Tadahito Iguchi.
