Report: White Sox to select outfielder Clint Frazier

According to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times, the White Sox will be selecting the contract of outfielder Clint Frazier from AAA Charlotte prior to Sunday’s series finale against the Royals.



Frazier, who is not on the 40-man roster, will require a corresponding move even if he is being recalled due to a current player being placed on the injured list. The White Sox signed Frazier to a minor league contract in late April, and he has done nothing but hit since joining the organization.

Once the #17 overall prospect in baseball per MLB.com, Frazier began 2023 with the Texas Rangers’ AAA affiliate and hit only .250/.350/.442 (.792 OPS) with one home run and four runs batted in across 60 plate appearances. In 67 plate appearances since joining the White Sox organization, Frazier has hit .375/.478/.839 (1.317 OPS) with seven home runs and 13 runs batted in.



Frazier has reportedly been working in Charlotte on becoming more open in his batting stance while focusing on aggression at the plate. His role with the White Sox remains to be seen and may depend on the corresponding roster move (in terms of whether a core player is injured or if he is just taking the place of a bench player like Adam Haseley or Jake Marisnick). However, should he receive MLB at-bats in the coming weeks, it will be interesting to see if Frazier can keep his momentum from Charlotte to help complement a White Sox offense that has become more potent in recent games.
