The White Sox are reportedly showing interest in free agent Michael Conforto, according to a report from the New York Post’s Jon Heyman. The corner outfielder is currently searching for a new home, especially after the Dodgers’ overnight signing of Kyle Tucker to a four-year, $240-million deal.

Conforto, whose production has trended downward in recent seasons, is coming off the worst offensive year of his career. The lefty hitter played in 138 games for Los Angeles in 2025, slashing .199/.305/.333 with 12 home runs, 36 RBI, a .638 OPS, and an 83 wRC+, all well below his career norms and league averages. The struggles were also significant enough to keep him off the Dodgers’ postseason roster, effectively ending his one-year, $17 million contract on a sour note.

A former 10th overall pick by the Mets in 2014, Conforto was once a much different presence in the lineup. He emerged as one of New York’s main power threats, playing a key role in the Mets’ postseason runs while earning an All-Star selection in 2017. However, a right shoulder injury led him to miss the entire 2022 season, and he hasn’t been able to recapture the same power and contact quality since.

For the White Sox, Conforto is a signature buy-low option with the hope that he regains some form during the first half. How much of that form remains to be seen, but he does come with enough upside thanks to his decent walk rate and bat speed last season. His presence as a lefty hitter would also give Will Venable some flexibility when it comes to lineup construction, while filling a void in an outfield that projects to feature Andrew Benintendi and Luis Robert Jr. in the other two spots.

If Conforto can stay healthy and build off his positives, he not only will see regular playing time but also have the chance to emerge as a mid-season trade candidate for Chris Getz and Co. We’ll see if both sides express a mutual interest moving forward or if the White Sox pivot to another option.
