Like all of you, we are saddened to learn the unexpected passing of actor and comedian Bob Saget earlier this evening. He was 65.
In light of the tragic news, we’d like to recall a special memory that is often forgotten by many. It’s one that connects the late “Full House” star to the Chicago White Sox.
Prior to a game in May 2012, Saget took the field in a black and white pinstripe jersey to deliver his rendition of the national anthem. The unique moment was luckily captured by the White Sox video team and has since resurfaced on YouTube. The nearly four-minute clip also features a brief pregame interview conducted by PA announcer Gene Honda.
“It is the anthem and I want to pay homage,” explained Saget. “I don’t want to do any kind of grabbage or any fun with it. I’m just trying to stay on pitch. I can’t pitch and I’m not throwing the first ball because it would go right into the dirt, but I am truly honored… to sing the anthem today.”
And to little surprise, Saget did not disappoint.
