White Sox bullpen implodes in 14-5 loss to the Jays

by Joe Binder

It was a rough night for Miguel Gonzalez in his first start back with the White Sox. The 33-year old righty started off by getting through the first two innings unscathed. Then, things took a turn for the worse when Aledmys Diaz went deep in the third to give the Jays a 2-1 lead. Just an inning later, Diaz returned with an RBI double before Josh Donaldson unloaded on a moonshot to expand the Toronto’s lead to 6-2.

The White Sox did answer back with their offense which continued to show off plenty of pop. Tim Anderson, Avisail Garcia, and Yolmer Sanchez each homered.

In addition, Jose Abreu stayed hot with a pair of hits, and Tim Anderson finished the night 3-4 with two hits and two stolen bases along with his home run.

Unfortunately, things fell out of reach when Toronto’s bats came alive in the eighth. The team put up seven runs in what seemed like a never ending inning. For those keeping track at home, Hector Santiago gave up three earned runs while Gregory Infante was responsible for five. The Sox look to avoid the sweep on Wednesday night before returning home on Thursday.
