Postgame Report: White Sox 8, Tigers 4

The White Sox offense woke up tonight with a four-run first inning. The team built on that momentum and held the lead all night in an victory over the Tigers. Chicago is back at .500 at 9-9, while Detroit falls to 9-6.

W: Matt Foster (2-0) | L: Tyler Alexander (1-1)

Notable Performances

Tim Anderson: 1-for-4, BB

In his return from the injured list, Tim Anderson sparked the team’s big first inning with a leadoff walk. His presence in the lineup was certainly refreshing, as the team is much more adept with him healthy.

Jose Abreu: 3-for-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI

Jose Abreu enjoyed a great night at the plate, as he typically does against the Tigers. He provided the team’s first run with an RBI double in the first inning, then hit another RBI double in the seventh inning.

Matt Foster: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K

Matt Foster was unhittable once again out of the bullpen. He threw two perfect innings and registered seven swings-and-misses, including this one on a terrific change-up.

Gio Gonzalez: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 K

While Gio Gonzalez did not register the win, he ate the majority of five innings and held the Tigers to just two runs. All things considered, he did his job.

Edwin Encarnacion: 1-for-4, HR, RBI

Edwin Encarnacion joined Tim Anderson in returning from the injured list, and he provided a signature Encarnacion mammoth shot in the fourth inning.

Moment of the Game

With one swing, Eloy Jimenez (2-for-4, HR, 4 RBI) added three runs to the White Sox lead before Detroit even had a chance to hit.
