Postgame Report: White Sox 4, Twins 3

The White Sox became the first American League team to clinch a 2020 playoff spot with a comeback 4-3 victory over the Twins. Chicago will appear in the postseason for the first time since 2008 after strong relief pitching and timely hitting from Jose Abreu and Eloy Jimenez. The White Sox improve to 33-17 and three full games ahead of Minnesota in the standings. The Twins fall to 31-21.

W: Codi Heuer (3-0) | L: Tyler Clippard (1-1) | SV: Alex Colome (12)

Notable Performances

Reynaldo Lopez: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 6 K

Reynaldo Lopez kept the White Sox in the game today against a team he has struggled with this year. He was bitten by three solo home runs, but performed better than anticipated against a dangerous lineup.

Jose Abreu: 2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI, BB

Jose Abreu strengthened his MVP case with yet another home run. He later beat a ground ball to shortstop in the seventh inning to drive home the tying run.

Yasmani Grandal: 2-for-3, 2B, BB

Yasmani Grandal reached base safely three times today, called a solid game behind the plate, and made a nice defensive play in the seventh inning to scoop a throw out of the dirt and tag a runner out at home.

Edwin Encarnacion: 1-for-3, HR, RBI, HBP

In his first game since Monday, Edwin Encarnacion make sure Minnesota felt his presence with a solo home run off Kenta Maeda.

Codi Heuer: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K

Codi Heuer was electric out of the bullpen once again, as he collected five key outs for the White Sox late in the game.

Moment of the Game

After striking out in his first three plate appearances, Eloy Jimenez wasted no time in his fourth time up and gave the White Sox the lead.

Great come from behind win today against the Twins and their best pitcher.
The bullpen was superb once again with Colome closing it out being the icing on the pie.
