Postgame Report: White Sox 14, Tigers 0

Another night, another win for the White Sox. This might have been the best game the Sox will play all year, as they had four hitters with multi-hit games, every starter got a base hit, and seven players scored at least a run. In fact, Jose Abreu scored five runs by himself. After jumping out to a quick 5-0 lead through three, Reynaldo Lopez was able to set into a groove and cruise through his five innings, earning his first win of the season.

This team gets more and more fun by the day. The White Sox have now won the series and improved to 29-16, maintaining first place in the American League Central.

W: Reynaldo Lopez (1-2) | L: Michael Fulmer (0-2)

Notable Performances

Jose Abreu: 4-for-4, 7 RBI, 5 R, 2 HR, BB, 10 TB

Jose Abreu just added a huge resume-boosting performance when it comes to the MVP race. He alone outscored the Tigers 7-0. His five runs scored and seven driven in both represent career highs, and he was able to do it in all facets at the plate. He didn’t only resort to the long ball – he also had 2 singles, showcasing his skills as a multi-dimensional hitter. Abreu is now batting .319 with a league-high 47 RBIs.

Tim Anderson: 4-for-5, RBI, 2R

It was not only Jose Abreu that had an impressive line tonight, as the best hitter in the American League, Tim Anderson, went 4-for-5. Anderson boosted his batting average to .358, which leads all of baseball.

Eloy Jimenez: 3-for-4, RBI, 2B, BB, run

After a heroic home run last night, Eloy Jimenez followed up with another solid night at the plate. He got the party started in the first with an RBI double, his eleventh on the season, and followed it up with a pair of hits later on. Jimenez now has 34 RBI’, putting him second to Jose Abreu for the team lead.

Moment of the Game

Tonight’s “Moment of the Game” was the second of Abreu’s two homers, which brought his season total to 15.

Player of the Game

The Player of the Game is Jose Abreu without question. He could not have been any better at the dish, and he added an incredible performance to his 2020 resume.

Looking Ahead

The White Sox will face the Tigers in the series finale tomorrow afternoon. The White Sox have yet to list a probable starter, but it has all the looks of a possible bullpen game. The Tigers will go with Spencer Turnbull, who is 4-2 with a 3.32 ERA. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. on NBC Sports Chicago and the MyTeams App.
