Postgame Report: White Sox 11, Royals 6

A five-run second inning and a five-run seventh inning fueled the White Sox in an 11-6 victory over the Royals in Kansas City. The White Sox are now 6-1 against the Royals this season. Overall, Chicago is now 23-15 and half a game back of first place in the AL Central. The Royals drop to 14-24 and remain in last place.

W: Dylan Cease (5-2) | L: Danny Duffy (2-3)

Notable Performances

Dylan Cease: 5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 1 K

Dylan Cease limited the walks tonight and, unsurprisingly, had a decent outing. While he still gave up some hard contact and did not miss many bats, he did his job and will bring a 3.29 earned run average into his next start.

Tim Anderson: 3-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, BB

Tim Anderson had a productive night at the plate, to say the least. He hit a solo home run, took a bases loaded walk, and even sprinkled in two singles in the win.

Yasmani Grandal: 2-for-3, 2 BB

Yasmani Grandal reached base safely in four of his five plate appearances and called a nice game behind the plate tonight.

Edwin Encarnacion: 1-for-4, HR, RBI, HBP

The parrot made an appearance early on in Kansas City.

Jose Abreu: 2-for-5, 3 RBI

Jose Abreu drove in two runs with a double in the second inning, then flipped a single into right field in the seventh inning to score another run.

Bernardo Flores: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 1 K

Bernardo Flores made his MLB debut tonight in the eighth inning on the mound. The young southpaw could play an important role for the team in September, as the White Sox will need pitchers to step up and take on innings.

DALE COLE

It is very concerning to me that Moncada is apparently still dealing with the after effects of the Corona virus and he sure hasn’t looked like himself since. Hopefully, this problem with him goes away, but other people continue to be effected for a very long time after and doctors don’t have answers (Chris Cuomo is an example). Some medical professionals have even said that the virus could permanently impact your body/health in some way. Penn State football is another example of the virus affecting the players hearts and the professionals don’t have answers. Hopefully, this is not the case with Moncada.
