Postgame Report: Indians 5, White Sox 3

Notable Performances

Adam Engel: 1-2, 1 RBI, 1 3B

Adam Engel came in tonight pinch-hitting for Nomar Mazara and couldn’t have come up any bigger for the Sox. His triple in the 10th inning put the White Sox ahead 2-1 and in a position to win tonight.

Jose Abreu: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 HR, 1 K

Jose improved his resume to win an American League MVP by blasting a sixth inning home run against Adam Plutko, tying the game at 1-1. Jose Abreu has been the White Sox best player this season and only proved that more tonight.

Nick Madrigal: 1-4, 1 RBI

Nick Madrigal continued his stellar rookie campaign, proving that he can hit major league pitching early in his young career. In a high-leverage situation in extra innings, he gave the Sox a 3-1 lead, driving home Adam Engel after his RBI triple.

Moment & Player of the Game

Adam Engel (1-2, 3B, 1 RBI) gave the White Sox the lead in the 10th inning with a 1-out triple, scoring James McCann. As a result, he also wins Player of the Game in a heartbreaker.

Looking Ahead

The White Sox continue the four-game series against the Indians tomorrow at 5:10 PM CT. Lucas Giolito will take the mound for the White Sox while the Indians will counter with Shane Bieber, creating a best-on-best pitching matchup.
