Moncada Mondays – 12/4/17

When White Sox fans look back on the 2017 season, few games stand out more than the three-game sweep of the Astros in early August. The South Siders outscored Houston 8-5 in game one, and Miguel Gonzalez pitched 8 frames of one-run ball to lock down game two. The eventual World Series Champions were two outs away from salvaging the last game of the series at the Rate, but Yoan Moncada had other plans.

“HE TIED IT, HE WON IT!” That he did, Mr. Benetti.

Moncada showcases his ability to spray the ball to all parts of the park in these highlights. He drives a fastball on the outer half of the plate into the left-field bleachers to tie the game and gets around on an inside pitch to rip a bullet back up the middle, which easily scores Leury Garcia from second base to win the game. Performances like that are great during the dog days of summer, but I’m looking forward to seeing Yoan come up in the clutch in a playoff-type atmosphere.
