Luis Robert Cleared to Increase Level of Baseball Activity

by Jordan Lazowski

On a day in which the White Sox press releases had been filled with a lot of negative injury-related news, there was a positive update not too long ago: Luis Robert was cleared to increase the level of baseball activity he is allowed to undergo in his current rehabilitation efforts. He is entering the next phase before his return to the field.

Robert has been out with a Grade 3 Hip Flexor Strain since May 2. He was hitting .316/.359/.463 at the time of his injury.

According to multiple reports, optimism is high for a 2021 return for Robert, even though there is no current timetable for his return to the big league.

However, based on the timeline above, by the end of July, it is very possible that we could see Luis Robert head on a rehabilitation assignment as the final hurdle to clear before returning to Center Field at Guaranteed Rate Field – just in time for the final playoff push.

With a team desperately struggling to stay healthy while battling for first place in the AL Central, this is the sort of positive White Sox news we all needed today.
