The White Sox simply cannot catch a break.
Second baseman Josh Harrison was the club’s latest victim as he left tonight’s game with an apparent arm injury. The team later announced on Twitter that he suffered a right triceps contusion. Luckily, x-rays were negative and Harrison is listed as day-to-day.
The injury occurred during the veteran’s leadoff at-bat in the bottom of the fifth inning. Harrison attempted to spin out of the way of a pitch, only for it to hit him in the back of his right arm. The infielder was in a noticeable amount of pain but stayed in to run after talking with the training staff. He would not return to play defense the next half-inning.
Harrison, 34, has been trending upwards as of late. In addition to several game-saving defensive plays, he’s hitting .313/.382/.428 with a home run, six RBI, and nine runs scored over his last 15 games. With options dwindling rapidly, the Sox can seldom afford to lose him or any other players for that matter.
Infield prospect Lenyn Sosa came in as the defensive replacement at second base, thus officially making his MLB debut.
