Joe Kelly Leaves Game with Hamstring Tightness

After striking out the first two batters he faced in Wednesday night’s contest between the White Sox and Red Sox, reliever Joe Kelly left his outing with a trainer with what appeared to be a lower body injury. The White Sox have announced his injury status is “Left Hamstring Tightness.”

Kelly missed the first month of the season rehabbing an elbow injury that occurred during his 2021 season, though this obviously is unrelated to the current injury. The hope is that this is nothing more than tightness or a cramp, and that Kelly will be able to return to game action by the weekend against the Cubs.

On the season, Kelly is 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA. However, he’s started to look better as of late, so it would be nice to see him back on the field. We will keep you updated as more information becomes known on Kelly’s long-term availability.
