The White Sox gave two injury-related updates this morning: one good, one not so good.
The oft-injured Eloy Jimenez will be heading to the IL again this season, this time for 4-6 weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered while running the bases in Toronto this past week. Luis Robert Jr., who has been out since the first week of the season with a hip flexor injury, could return after a full week in Charlotte.
Jimenez’s injury occurred during the fifth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays as he was running home on a base hit from Corey Julks. The outfielder is hitting just .231/.288/.381 on the season and was replaced on the active roster by Zach DeLoach.
Robert Jr. played just the first seven games of this season before re-injuring a previous hip flexor injury from seasons past. He hit .214/.241/.500 in 29 plate appearances in the early going of this season and has already homered in a rehab game in the Arizona Complex League. He will head to Charlotte for a bit better of a test before heading back to Chicago.
