With just around a week remaining until the regular season begins, White Sox players continue to try to get their tune-ups. Unfortunately for Michael Kopech, it looks like he could still use another tune-up following today’s 6-4 loss to the Giants.

Kopech got the start this afternoon and battled ineffectiveness and a lack of his typical velocity throughout his start. He was able to post two scoreless innings to start the game; however, his luck would eventually run out, and he’d give up five runs over the next one-plus innings, striking out three but walking four on the afternoon. He would be followed by scoreless outings from Kenyan Middleton, Gregory Santos, Lane Ramsey, and Andrew Perez, with Bryan Shaw the only other reliever to give up a run on the afternoon.

With the White Sox only mustering six hits on the afternoon, there wasn’t much to speak about on the offensive side of the ball either. One-third of their hits came via the long ball, with both Seby Zavala and Romy Gonzalez leaving the yard. Jake Marisnick, Eloy Jimenez, Moises Castillo, and Hanser Alberto were the only other players who registered a hit, with Marsinick’s the only one of the extra-base variety.

With the loss, the White Sox fall to 10-12 on the Spring.
