ESPN set to air South Korean Baseball six times a week

While Major League Baseball continues to form a plan to resume action this year, fans everywhere can now turn their attention to something a little different. ESPN announced an agreement today with the Korean Baseball Organization to air live baseball games six days a week, beginning as soon as tomorrow, May 5th. There’s just one catch, you’ll have to be willing to either stay up late or wake up early to watch these due to the time difference.

ESPN announced in a release that one game will air each day from Tuesday through Sunday, with the matchups being selected on a weekly basis. The times will vary depending on the day but games can mainly be viewed from Tuesday-Friday at 4:30 AM CST, Saturdays at 3:00 AM CST, and Sundays at midnight on ESPN2 and the ESPN App.

Now you’re probably thinking, why should I care? The answer is simple: it’s actual baseball being played. It’s not just some virtual game being streamed or a rerun of a playoff game from the ’90s. While sure it may be a little different than what we’re used to, it’s still live action that is a welcomed sight, even if it’s from games being played overseas. It shows that there is some return to normalcy in other parts of the world and a glimpse of what we could see later this summer, fingers crossed.

Oh, did I mention Tyler Saladino is playing? Yes, the beloved former Sox known for his awesome stache and walk-off against the North Siders is now a member of the Samsung Lions. There’s your White Sox connection to give you all the more reason to tune into these games if you find yourself up. Did someone say Samsung Lions on 35th?
