EDITOR’S NOTE: Following last night’s game, Tony La Russa announced that Eloy Jimenez twisted his right knee during a swing in the eighth inning. He is considered day-to-day at this point, though he will likely not be in Saturday’s lineup.

Things have not gone the White Sox’s way tonight over the past few hours.

Eloy Jimenez left the game in the top of the eighth inning tonight after experiencing some discomfort after swing and miss at the plate. He appeared to be grabbing at his leg. Adam Engel would replace him in the at-bat and in the field.

Jimenez has been on a tear recently, as he was hitting .310/.362/.456 coming into the night. There hasn’t been any official word on Jimenez, but it is likely La Russa will make some comments after the game – he is likely to get a few nights off to rest any discomfort he is feeling in any case, assuming he avoids an IL stint.

The White Sox lost tonight’s game 5-2 and really didn’t put up much of a fight after the first inning. Andrew Vaughn also got hit in the face during a hit-by-pitch, but he remained in the game.
