Doubleheader Report: Cardinals sweep lackadaisical White Sox

Game One: Cardinals 5, White Sox 1 (Final/7)

The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead due to a four-run first inning off Lucas Giolito, and the White Sox were never able to create sustained rallies against Adam Wainwright. There really is not much to say about the White Sox performance in game one. Danny Mendick had two hits, and Luis Robert hit a double. Otherwise, the team’s play was very unenthusiastic.

W: Adam Wainwright (2-0) | L: Lucas Giolito (1-2)

Game Two: Cardinals 6, White Sox 3 (Final/7)

Despite a better showing from the White Sox in the second game of the doubleheader, the team still could not secure a victory. Both teams declared the second game as a bullpen game, but the White Sox bullpen began to falter in the middle innings.

W: Genesis Cabrera (1-0) | L: Evan Marshall (0-1) | SV: Andrew Miller (1)

Notable Performances

Matt Foster: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

Matt Foster continued his dominance of MLB hitters in his young career. He struck out two batters and induced four ground balls in two perfect innings at the beginning of the game.

Luis Robert: 1-for-3, HR, RBI

Luis Robert was responsible for the first run of the game, as he hit a long home run in the third inning. He also made a couple of nice, rangy catches in center field.

Moment & Player of the Game

Eloy Jimenez (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI) provided another opposite field home run, which gave the White Sox their only lead of the game.

Looking Ahead

The White Sox and Cardinals will complete their season series tomorrow afternoon at 1:10 PM CT. Dakota Hudson will start for the Cardinals against Dallas Keuchel.
