Danny Mendick isn’t the only White Sox to leave today’s game with an injury. Just one inning later, Adam Engel left the game with right hamstring tightness, the White Sox announced.

Something appeared noticeably wrong with Engel during his third-inning at-bat. Both Jason Benetti and Steve Stone commented that it appeared Engel was trying to stretch out his right leg during the at-bat, which he would eventually strike out in. His final swing was a purely upper body swing, so it shouldn’t be surprising that he was pulled from the game. AJ Pollock would come in as his replacement.

Engel has struggled throughout this season but is coming off a three-hit performance in Tuesday’s win against the Blue Jays. With both Mendick and Engel going down today, the White Sox will be in an interesting position that will require them to take a long look at their 40-man roster to decide who really needs to be there. Gavin Sheets, Romy Gonzalez, and Yolbert Sanchez are among those who could get extended consideration in the case of an IL stint for either Engel or Mendick.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
