White Sox Update: Engel Rehab, La Russa on Twins, Bobblehead Schedule

With no game on Friday, it was a relatively quiet day at Camelback Ranch. Nonetheless, here’s the latest White Sox news, notes, and anecdotes on this fine Saturday afternoon.


Adam Engel Injury Update

White Sox outfielder Adam Engel shared details on his offseason surgery, which was to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. It required five suture anchors to be used, which is fairly extensive for the procedure. The rehab process following also gave the 30-year-old time to rest his legs after his hamstring issues last season. Thanks to that along with an updated conditioning program, he feels strengthened and saw his ability to run full speed return.


Anderson, Moncada, and Grandal earn praise from MLB Network

MLB Network is currently in the process of unveiling its Top 10 rankings at each position before the start of the season. Yasmani Grandal comes in at number two among catchers, Tim Anderson eighth among shortstops, and Moncada ninth among third baseman.


Sunday Pitching Update

The White Sox will send newly signed Vince Velasquez to the bump to start out Sunday’s spring training game at the Rockies. Joining him on the list of scheduled hurlers are also Liam Hendriks (again), Garrett Crochet, and Matt Foster.

Andrew Vaughn briefly reflected on his whirlwind that was the 2021 season and also shared his thoughts heading into 2022.
