The Winter Meetings are in full swing. Let’s start with some of the rumors and news that have relevance towards the White Sox.

RUMORS:

    • Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the White Sox appear to be the team most interested in free agent Manny Machado
    • Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that Manny Machado is planning on doing a free agency tour to visit each interested team in their respective city.
    • Jon Heyman of Fancred reports that there are three mystery teams who are “in” on Manny Machado besides the Yankees, White Sox, and Phillies
    • Jon Heyman also reports that the Yankees are unlikely to pay Manny Machado $300 million, per a source. Despite this rumor, the team is still seen as a serious contender and have not ruled him out of play.

This comes after Vizquel earned the Carolina League’s Manager of the Year honors in his first season as a manager with the High-A Winston-Salem Dash. This was the first team Vizquel managed at any level and he led them to a first-half title and 84-54 overall record.
    • The White Sox signed free agent 2B Ryan Goins to a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training. Goins played 41 games with the Kansas City Royals in 2018, hitting .226 with 6 RBI and a .252 OBP.
    • Executive VP Ken Williams met with the media on Monday and said the White Sox are ready to turn the corner in the rebuild.
    • In addition to Ken Williams, GM Rick Hahn also met with the media to discuss several topics.
