‘Twas the Night Before Soxmas

by Joe Binder

‘Twas the night before Soxmas, when all through The Rate
Not a single fan was stirring, not even by the back gate;
The bats were placed in the rack with care,
In hopes that Spring Training would soon be there;
The players were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of a World Series danced in their heads;
And Jerry with his trophies, and money still in tact,
Decided to offer Dallas Keuchel a three-year contract,
Suddenly on the field there arose such a clatter,
Rick Hahn sprang from his office to see what was the matter.
When what to his wondering eyes did appear,
But Luis Robert in the outfield ready to begin his Major League career.
With the free agent signings happening so lively and quick,
Rick knew in a moment he must also call up Nick.
With prospects rising in the farm system so fast,
Hahn knew the rebuild had finally come to an end at last.
And he whistled, and shouted, and called the players by name:
“Now, Jimenez! now, Grandal! now Anderson and Moncada!
On, Gio! on, Cease! on, Keuchel and Mazara!
To the top of the standings the White Sox soon flew,
With manager Ricky Renteria and good ol’ Donny Cooper too.
The prospects and newly signed vets formed a team full of grit,
Were joined by their rallying cry: “Ricky’s Boy’s Don’t Quit!”
So as the team took the field with a new hope in sight,
They all exclaimed —
“Merry Soxmas to all, and to all a good night!”

From our Sox On 35th family to yours, Merry Christmas!
