Spring Training Report: Keuchel Solid, Bats Take Care of Cubs in 3-1 Victory

by Jordan Lazowski

Dallas Keuchel put the White Sox in a great position to win today, throwing four innings of shutout baseball en route to a 3-1 White Sox victory. Danny Mendick homered in the effort, and Jose Ruiz had a quick ninth inning to secure the victory. With the win, the Sox improved to 8-10-5 on the Spring.

W: Aaron Bummer (1-0) L: Andrew Chafin (0-2) S: Jose Ruiz (2)

Position Players

Tim Anderson paced the offense from the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with a walk in today’s win. Adam Eaton, Luis Robert, and Danny Mendick all drove in runs in the win, while Jose Abreu struggled a bit and left seven runners on base. In other words, the offense was just enough today for the South Siders!

Pitchers

Dallas Keuchel led the charge on the mound for the Sox today, giving up just one hit across four innings and striking out three. Garrett Crochet, Matt Foster, Aaron Bummer, Codi Heuer, and Jose Ruiz all saw action today, with Crochet being the only player who gave up a run. All said, a pretty solid outing from the White Sox’ staff again today.
