Spring Training Report: Eloy Jimenez Leads the Offense, but Sox fall to Reds 7-4

Though we weren’t able to see it live, the White Sox lost last night 7-4 to the Reds. Reynaldo Lopez struggled in his three innings of work, while Eloy Jimenez led the show on offense. With the loss, the White Sox feel to 1-7-3 in Cactus League play.

Position Players

It wasn’t a great overall night for the offense, but Eloy Jimenez had a standout performance with an impressive home run and a triple. Tim Anderson, Yoan Moncada, Gavin Sheets, Nick Williams, and Marco Hernandez each turned in a hit, Adam Eaton recorded a walk, and Micker Adolfo got on base with 2 walks as well.


Pitchers

Reynaldo Lopez had a tough outing, going 3 innings and giving up 6 hits, including 2 home runs, 5 runs total, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout.

Carlos Rodon did well in his spring training debut, going for 2 innings, surrendering 2 hits and recording 1 strikeout along with 0 runs.

Aaron Bummer made a brief appearance, giving up a walk, a 2 run home run, and striking out two. Kyle Kubat recorded an out in relief of Bummer, while Evan Marshall and Codi Heuer both threw a scoreless inning. Marshall recorded 3 strikeouts in his appearance.

Friday vs. Rangers: Lucas Giolito (CHW) vs. Jordan Lyles (TEX)

The Sox take on the Texas Rangers today, March 12, at 2:05 P.M. Central Time. Lucas Giolito will make his third Cactus League start, but unfortunately, this game is not available to watch or listen to anywhere.
