Gameday Information: Brewers vs. White Sox, July 22nd

by Joe Binder

The White Sox have used big offensive innings to topple the Cubs in their first two exhibitions. They’ll now look to do the same against the Milwaukee Brewers tonight.

A couple of interesting storylines to follow as we near Friday’s opener revolves around the right field and second base positions. Nomar Mazara was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier today due to an undisclosed illness, leaving the corner outfield spot open to either Leury Garcia, Nicky Delmonico, or Adam Engel. Garcia also joins Danny Mendick as a candidate for the second base position, should the team opt to send Nick Madrigal to Schaumburg for a week to begin the season. While nothing is certain, tonight’s lineup could give us a pretty clear glimpse at how Rick Renteria will fill out his lineup card on Opening Day.

Tonight’s starting lineup might be more of a glimpse into what Rick Hahn prefers to do before the Friday opener in regards to 2B Nick Madrigal as opposed to what Rick Renteria actually wants to see on the diamond.
