White Sox 8, Mariners 7: Quero leads walk-off victory

by Jordan Lazowski

In a hectic back-and-forth debut at Camelback Ranch for the White Sox, top prospect Colson Montgomery and the White Sox faced the Seattle Mariners, with the Sox looking to bounce back from yesterday’s Cactus League opening loss.

The White Sox used nine pitchers to get through today’s game, with Dominic Leone starting the game with a scoreless frame. The Mariners would be held off the board until the seventh inning, with Cole Young hitting a sacrifice fly and Samad Taylor hitting his first home run of the spring. However, the White Sox offense also came to life in the late innings, starting with Brett Phillips and Eloy Jimenez both hitting RBI singles, followed an inning later by Korey Lee’s two-run homer. After Adisyn Coffey gave up two runs in the top of the ninth to tie the game, Edgar Quero walked it off with a single to left field.

With this win, the Sox even their spring training record to 1-1.

W: Adisyn Coffey (1-0) | L: Payton Alford (0-1)
