Cubs 10, White Sox 6: Kopech’s strong start not enough

by Michael Suareo

Michael Kopech and the Chicago White Sox got off to a strong start, but struggles from the bullpen lead to the Sox’ sixth loss of Spring Training.

On the mound, Michael Kopech had a strong outing, pitching two scoreless innings and striking out five batters. Unfortunately, Touki Toussaint had a day to forget, as he gave up six earned runs while only recording one out in the fifth inning. After that, the Sox were unable to fully recover.

At the plate, the Sox did most of their damage in the fifth inning, where Nicky Lopez and Paul DeJong each drove some runs in with a double each. Kevin Pillar, Dominic Fletcher, and Rafael Ortega each had an extra base hit as well.

With the loss, the White Sox move to 3-6 this Spring Training.
