Avisail Garcia’s Top 10 Moments with the Chicago White Sox

On Friday, it was officially announced that outfielder Avisail Garcia had signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Rays. Garcia originally came to the South Side via trade in 2012 and spent six years with the organization. While he had plenty of ups and downs during his time with the team, Avi provided fans with some good memories. Here’s a look back at his top 10 moments with the Chicago White Sox.

10. New York Robbery

Avi Garcia stealing home runs is one thing all Sox fans will remember. Here’s the first of several robberies that made the list.

9. Walk-Off Hit-By-Pitch

Back in 2015, Avi ended things in the 11th with a walk-off hit-by-pitch.

8. Three Garcia’s Record an RBI

Avi Garcia, Willy Garcia, and Leury Garcia made history by becoming the first all-Garcia outfield during April 2017. Less than a month later, the trio each recorded an RBI in a 6-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

7. High Five

Avi celebrates a nice running catch by high-fiving a young fan.


6. Toronto Blast

During an early April game in 2018, Avi set the White Sox Statcast records for home run exit velocity (116.7 mph) and distance (481 ft).

5. The Near Cycle

In a 10-5 win over the Rangers this past July, Avi went 4-5 with a pair of doubles, a triple, three runs, and an RBI.


4. Detroit Mauling

In September 2017, Avi completely destroyed his former team by recording a 5-hit, 7-RBI day.


3. Game-Ending Double Play

Down one, the Royals attempted to run on Avisail Garcia for the second time during the game. However, the second time wasn’t the charm as Avi nailed the runner and the Sox turned things into a game-ending double play.


2. July 4th Catch

Perhaps the most iconic robbery during his time on the South Side, Avi took away what would have been a game-tying home run from Chris Davis in the 9th inning.

1.   2017 All-Star Selection

Avi Garcia had a career-year in 2017, earning himself his first All-Star Game nod. The now former White Sox finished the season by slashing .330/.380/.506 with 18 home runs and 80 RBI in 136 games.
