The White Sox have traded third baseman Bryan Ramos to the Orioles in exchange for cash considerations, as first reported by MLB insider Francys Romero.
Ramos, 23, was recently designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for reliever Seranthony Domínguez. The infielder spent most of the 2025 season at Triple-A Charlotte, where he hit .216/.309/.396 with 16 home runs and 51 RBI over 105 games. It marked the worst offensive season of his career, making his former 2023 ranking as the team’s No. 3 prospect feel more like a testament to the farm system’s growth than his own development lately.
These struggles in the minors and an infield logjam in the majors have led to a lack of opportunities in Chicago. Ramos has only played in 36 big-league games over the last two seasons, hitting .198/.244/.333 with six doubles, three home runs, and 13 RBI. Third baseman Miguel Vargas figures to lock down the hot corner in 2026, and with Ramos out of options, a trade out of the organization seemed like the best outcome for everyone involved.
The Ramos deal marks the team’s second trade of the day, coming on the heels of a more significant trade with the Red Sox involving pitchers Jordan Hicks and prospect David Sandlin. White Sox GM Chris Getz mentioned at SoxFest Live that the team wasn’t necessarily done making moves, and he backed that up on Sunday.
