White Sox RHP Mike Vasil to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery

The White Sox announced some unfortunate news on Tuesday.

Right-hander Mike Vasil will require Tommy John surgery, effectively ending his 2026 season before it even started. The Sox say the procedure will be performed by Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington, TX in the coming weeks.

The injury occurred three days ago in Saturday’s game against the Dodgers. Vasil, who was the starting pitcher, exited in the top of the fourth inning with a trainer after experiencing right elbow soreness. He finished having tossed 3.2 innings, giving up two hits and a pair of walks while striking out three.

Shortly after the announcement was made, Vasil met with the media. His full availability session can be viewed on CHSN’s YouTube channel:

This is a developing story. More to come.
