White Sox recall outfielder Adam Haseley from Triple-A Charlotte

by Joe Binder

The White Sox made a pair of roster moves prior to Sunday night’s series finale vs. the Astros.

Right-handed pitcher Matt Foster was placed on the Bereavement List, and outfielder Adam Haseley was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, the team announced.

Haseley, 26, is slashing .280/.344/.482 with 11 doubles, eight home runs, 38 RBI, and .826 OPS with the Charlotte Knights this season. Over his last 17 games alone, the outfielder is batting .382 (26-for-68) with six doubles, five home runs, 23 RBI, 17 runs scored, six stolen bases, and a .721 slugging percentage. He also played in five games with the White Sox from April 20-24, going 2-for-10 (.200) with two walks.

Haseley was originally acquired from the Phillies on March 29 in exchange for right-hander McKinley Moore. The decision to recall him allows the White Sox to add an always-needed left-handed bat to their lineup as well as a fresh option for the fourth outfield spot. Fans can expect to see Haseley in tonight’s game, as he will be batting ninth and playing right field.

Foster, 27, is 1-2 with a 5.13 ERA (15 ER/26.1 IP), 29 strikeouts, and 1.37 WHIP over 29 relief appearances this season. His last outing came on Friday night in Houston, where he recorded two strikeouts while allowing four earned runs, one walk, and two home runs in 0.2 innings pitched. Foster must remain on the Bereavement List for a minimum of three days and no more than seven.
