White Sox Plan Blackout for Home Playoff Games

by Jordan Lazowski

It’s been 13 years since the last Blackout game. It’s time to do it again.

After the White Sox clinched the American League Central on Thursday afternoon, they came out with a clear message on Friday: wear black to all home playoff games.

Here’s what White Sox Chief Marketing Officer Brooks Boyer had to say about this:

“We are going to be asking all of our fans to wear black. We want to have an atmosphere that is going to really get our guys charged up, so it’s going to be a blackout at the ballpark. All October wear black, support your White Sox.”

Boyer has made it clear that the black rally towels will be ready for Game 1 as well, throwing us all back to the 2008 days when U.S. Cellular Field welcomed the Minnesota Twins to town for a good ol’ South Side Showdown.

For those who are looking to get tickets to the playoffs: if you are a season ticket holder, check your account! If you are not a season ticket holder, playoff tickets will go on sale to the general public starting next week.

All of this talk has us thinking about the last time we all got this very same message…

Let’s go get Cleveland tonight.
